We attended Jillian's baptism this past Sunday...Brad is her godfather and was so honored to be asked by Clark and Shelley. This was my first Catholic baptism where they dunked the baby...it was quite neat. Jillian was so good...didn't cry and as Brad noted, was very in tune with what was going on and the significance of the moment. Joey and Ruby were angels as well...didn't hear a peep out of either one of them...well, Joey was being fed...so he was more engrossed in his bottle.
We love to take these opportunities to get photos of the 3 cousins together...they are all just so darn cute. Also, we got a photo of the 4 generations of Meyer men and of the 3 Joe's all together.
God bless little Jilly-Bean.

"Cincinnati Bengals....that's the team we're going to cheer to victory!!!"
Even though the Bengals are 1-2, it doesn't stop our family from getting together to cheer our guys on! With a tight game on TV, we changed Joey's Bengal outfit to his "good-luck" Bengal PJ's...but I guess the luck has died down...they ended up losing to Cleveland ("the mistake on the lake"...:)). Nonetheless, our family are die hard Bengals fans through and through...we're cheering them on every week! Brad is already working on teaching Joey the Bengal fight song...watch out!!! Who Dey!

4 Months!!!
Joey had his 4 month check up yesterday. He's growing like a weed... he weighed in at 18 pounds 10 ounces and was 27 inches long. Dr. Wallace says he is above the 95th percentile and that we should be prepared to buy things for big boys...he's gonna be a whopper. He also got 4 shots and took it like a trooper...cried, but when they were done...so was he (& it helped that daddy scooped him up and loved on him for a while). We also got the go ahead to start solids...this morning was his first morning trying it...don't know how much he actually ingested...but hey, it's a start!

Gymboree
Joey and I have started a Wednesday afternoon Gymboree class! It has been so much fun (especially since we tried a Mommy and Baby Yoga class that brought him to hysterics after 15 minutes or so)...I've met other moms and Joey has met little ones his age. He likes Sarah (she's a precious 12 week old) and Collin...both weeks he just stares at them. Last week, he was amazed with Collin...it was hard to keep his attention.
However, I must admit that Joey is the life of the group. He chatters away and laughs out loud...absolutely wants to let everyone know he's there. That's a Meyer for ya'!

Brad
I really don't know where to begin when I speak of my husband...but the one word that comes to mind is genuine. He is genuine with his love (for me, Joey, family, & friends); he is genuine with his laughter and sense of humor; he is genuine with his passion (for God, sports, his work, his family); he is genuine with his determination and intensity.
He works so hard for this family, affording me the opportunity to work at raising our son. His sacrafice of days away from the family due to business meetings or trips, does not go unnoticed or unappreciated.
So, I am writing this message to let him know that I appreciate him and acknowledge his genuineness. He has give me so much: unconditional love, a beautiful son, the opportunity to stay home with our baby, and the ability to see what GENUINE love is all about. Thank God for you, Brad.

...BUMBO...
Whoever invented the Bumbo is an absolute genius. We've been attempting the Bumbo seat for a while, but his head was never quite steady enough. Well, the past couple of weeks he has made leaps and bounds with head control; so, I tried him in it this afternoon. Amazing...Joey has a whole new outlook on the world he lives in....that would be, seeing it vertical without the aid of mommy or daddy. Thank you, Mr. Bumbo man (or Mrs. Bumbo woman...whatever the case may be)!!!

Joey sees Joey!
I recently bought a mirror that you can maneuver while Joey's on "tummy time." He's becoming a pro on his tummy so I thought I'd introduce the mirror. The first time was absolutely hysterical...he smiled and giggled...he turn away and look again...then smile and giggle all over. I was rolling on the floor with him laughing myself.

Labor Day at the Pool
On Labor Day we enjoyed our first family day at the pool. Last time, Brad took Joey by himself...but today I got to join them. Joey really loves the water (especially the sound of running water). Whenever Brad took him by the "Mushroom" in the kiddie pool, he would fall asleep. He loved relaxing on the lounge chair with mommy and daddy. So much so, that he took a nap on it for a good 30 minutes. Mommy can't wait until next summer when he can actually walk and play with her in the pool. What a great way to end our summer!

Labor Day Weekend with the Family
On Sunday we spent the day with family. Joe, Michelle, & Ruby, along with myself, Brad, & Joey, all went shopping at "Joe Nuxhall's Yard Sale." We then headed over to Bev and Bruce's house for a dinner of delicious fajitas and golf on the TV (it's always on golf). Bruce even got out old family films...we sat around and watched the Brad, Joe, and Clark as boys...it was fun. Joey got to spend some time with Ruby on the playmat...they're just too cute.
